Salomon has unveiled the S/Lab Phantasm 3, the latest evolution of its carbon‑plated road racing shoe. Debuting in the White/Fiery Red” colorway, this new ultra-lightweight silhouette runner is engineered specifically to bring aerodynamics to road running. Weighing just seven ounces, the silhouette is 10% lighter than the S/Lab Phantasm 2, utilizing an optimized build that avoids sharp edges to ensure round, fluid transitions.
Developed in collaboration with Formula 1 aerodynamics specialists Swiss Side, the shoe features a radical “cache-coeur” upper construction designed to minimize drag by up to 28% compared to its predecessor. This innovative design includes a seamless gaiter that completely covers the laces up to the ankle, creating a smooth, streamlined surface over the entire foot to reduce turbulence.
The technical foundation of the S/Lab Phantasm 3 is built for explosive energy return and maximum propulsion. The midsole features an increased stack height of 39mm by 33mm, utilizing a softer and more resilient optiFOAM+ PEBA foam for enhanced performance. This high-performance cushioning is paired with a full-length, spoon-shaped energyBLADE carbon plate and an aggressive rocker geometry designed to shave up to 18 seconds off a two-hour marathon pace. Grounded by an all-purpose Contagrip outsole, the shoe maintains a 6mm drop and meets the strict 40mm stack limit set by World Athletics.
