Take an Official Look at the UNDEFEATED x Nike Air Max 90 “Black”

Just a day after unveiling its upcoming Air Max 90 collaboration alongside UNDEFEATED, sportswear titan Nike has now shared the official images for the first of three colorways. Dubbed the UNDEFEATED x Nike Air Max 90 “Black,” the first-to-release version of the trail-ready sneaker features a color combo of “Black/Anthracite/Rush Pink.”

The shoe, which references the New York street scene’s adoption of outdoor gear in the ‘90s, opts for a variety of technically-aligned materials instead of its normative leather. This has resulted in a stripped-down approach to the iconic silhouette, restructuring the shoe’s paneling to reduce material and streamline the “Anthracite” upper.

At the vamp, tongue, and around the collar, grid-like synthetic materials have been employed, with padding at the tongue and heel minimized to help in rendering the shoe’s sleeker profile. The AM90’s normative Swoosh has been switched for an elongated version bearing hairy suede at the lateral and medial sides. Air Max branding hits can be found at the rear as well at the lateral side’s midfoot, with UNDEFEATED’s Strike logo found on the tongue. Additional details include a heel pull tab and tongue lacing system, as well as contrasting “Rush Pink” insole. The shoe has been finished by a glossy black midsole and semi-translucent outsole.
