It’s safe to say that summer is nearly over. In true British form, the temperature has dropped and spells of rain are on the forecast for the foreseeable future. No ease into the next season to give us time to grieve the end of summer, just simply over and done with.
However, I must admit, as much as I love summer, autumn dressing is my favourite. There’s something about it that feels more refined and considered compared to any other season —the layering, textures and colour palettes, it allows us to embrace the best of all seasons. Some days it’s repeating summer staples like flip flops with jeans, others require more layers like a jumper paired over a shirt with a trench on top.

With new season collections beginning to trickle down through our favourite retailers, the early autumn trends are becoming clearer by the minute. While we have already noted the trends on the runways, it’s always nice to have the refresh that it brings when it’s finally time to update our autumn wardrobe. And what better way to style them than with a pair of beloved jeans?
As a self-confessed jean obsessive, I have to admit, I am so excited to bring my denim back out of hibernation and to start building looks again. From barrel-leg to straight-leg and everything in-between, it’s such a failsafe option to base your seasonal looks around. Endlessly versatile, jeans enable you to create an array of looks using the same pair – or, like me, opt for a number of different pairs of jeans to mix and match based on the look you’re trying to achieve.
Keep scrolling to discover the six autumn trends to wear with jeans in 2026, plus, some top jeans suggestions from a self-appointed denim connoisseur.
1. Mules

Style Notes: When it comes to the start of autumn, most of us aren’t ready to throw ourselves into chunky boots quite yet, but loafers sometimes feel a bit too much on those warmer days. Enter: mules. Striking the balance between comfort and style, they are a chic option for those easing themselves out of sandals and into a closed toe option (that doesn’t mean heels have to be closed though, right?)

Chocolate gives a softer finish than black, especially with a light-wash jean.
2. Check Prints

Style Notes: While check prints are nothing new for autumn, they do inject a nostalgic feel into our wardrobes. Last year, the checked shirt was the go-to option, however this year, it’s expanding into jackets and accessories alike in an array of colourways. For me, checks and denim for autumn always go hand-in-hand.

A relaxed option thats easy to throw-on and head straight out the door.
3. Cobalt Blue

Style Notes: Cobalt blue is quickly becoming the go-to colour to have for autumn this year. Leaning into the maximalist approach we’ve been seeing across the runways for the last few seasons, it bold blues may just replace the neutral tones in your autumn wardrobe. Black and blue jeans are a natural styling option, but don’t be afraid to opt for a brown or khaki instead—you’d be surprised just how well they pair together.

Accessories are a great way to see if the trend is for you by adding that pop of colour.
4. Frog-Fastening Jackets

Style Notes: Not quite the classic outerwear option we’re used to for autumn, but the frog fastening jacket has taken the fashion world by storm this year, and it’s easy to see why. Sophisticated and elegant, its ornamental braided loops and knotted toggle detailing gives an intricate finish that always looks expensive. Still sleek enough to appeal to minimalists too, this is universally loved style manages to make a statement without feeling too much.
Shop the Trend:

The viral Róhe jacket that triggered the frog-fastening trend comes in seven different colours.

A chic high-street option at an affordable price.

This more muted tone of green feels perfect for autumn.
5. Silver Trainers

Style Notes: I was quite sceptical of this trend when I first spotted it, but the more I see it, the more I need a pair. If you’re not convinced by bright colour-pop trainers, this is the cool-girl alternative, but when it comes to styling them, treat them like a neutral and you’ll quickly realise just how many different looks they go with.
Shop the Trend:

The green is such a sleek contrast against the silver.

For those that prefer a more investment style, these slim trainers will easily pair with jeans or even tailored trousers.

My Alohas shoes are easily some of the comfiest I own.
6. Striped T-Shirts

Style Notes: Striped t-shirts gained a huge momentum at the end of spring as we headed into summer and it’s shown no signs of slowing down since. That brown striped Miu Miu tee has been at the top of my wishlist for longer than I dare to admit, but if, like me, you can’t quite justify that much on a t-shirt right now, the high-street is just as good (dare I say, if not better?)
Shop the Trend:

A fitted option for those that don’t want a boxy, oversized style.

I own these in blue and get so much wear out of them, the black pair is next on my list.

These come in a size 6-24, and in extra short, short/petite, regular and long lengths.

I bought these recently and haven’t taken them off since–the colour is so good for autumn.

The twisted seam gives these jeans a more elevated feel.

Khaki jeans are next on my list and I’ve got my eye on this Mother pair.
