Provocative fashion house AVAVAV is continuing its disruptive partnership with adidas, this time turning its attention to the technical Megaride. Rather than simply applying new colors to the chunky trainer, the brand has opted for a complete deconstruction of its typical aesthetic. Set to arrive in two contrasting colorways later this month, the AVAVAV x adidas Megaride brings a softer, beautifully tattered edge to the industrial sportswear silhouette.
Distressed suede is the focal point of the new collaboration, completely altering the visual language of the Megaride. The weathered material is laid loosely over a translucent mesh base, intentionally giving the shoe a softer, somewhat deflated shape that contrasts heavily with its typical high-performance look. Function-first touches like toggle laces, metal eyelets, and subtle co-branded tongues keep the design practical, while still leaning into a distinctly minimalist, worn-in aesthetic.
The collaborative pack offers two distinct moods for fans of the fashion house. The first colorway leans into a moody, versatile palette, anchored by dark mesh, weathered grey and black suede, and black plated accents. The second option provides a much more aggressive visual, utilizing bright red distressed suede over a black mesh base with a striking gradient treatment.
Despite the heavily reworked, laid-back nature of the upper, AVAVAV chose not to mess with the foundation of the silhouette.
