Vans and *Better With Age have collaborated on the LX Authentic 44 and LX Half-Cab 33, engineering the appearance and texture of age directly into the construction of each shoe. The collection debuts exclusively at Dover Street Market London on May 15, and will receive a wider release via *Better With Age in late May.

The two silhouettes share a foundational construction logic: both arrive with yellowed soles, positioning oxidization not as a flaw to be avoided but as the intended finish state. On a standard release, a yellowed sole signals wear and time. Here, it signals intent; the patina is built in before the shoe ever meets a foot.

The LX Authentic 44 executes this most visibly. Its navy/white base is treated with a sun-faded upper, mimicking the bleached-out texture of canvas left in the elements across years of use. The deliberate mismatch between the clean colorway base and the faded surface treatment creates a layered reading: the shoe looks simultaneously new and thoroughly lived-in. Custom leather label and insole detailing complete the build, adding a craft-forward material contrast against the canvas construction.

The LX Half-Cab 33 takes a harder material approach. Black suede replaces canvas as the primary upper, shifting the tactile register toward something denser and more structured. A custom leather kiltie tassel introduces a functional-decorative element that sits squarely within *Better With Age founder Remy Milchman’s Americana vocabulary — the kiltie is a detail with deep roots in workwear and hiking footwear, repurposed here onto one of skate culture’s most recognizable high-top silhouettes. Co-branded leather label and custom insole detailing mirror the Authentic 44’s finishing approach, tying the two builds together under a shared material language.

Both silhouettes are housed within Vans’ LX line, the brand’s premium construction tier, which provides the elevated material and detailing framework that *Better With Age’s design ethos requires. The partnership’s central proposition, that reclaimed aesthetics and luxury craft are not in tension, finds its clearest expression in the physical object: these are shoes constructed to look like they’ve already been somewhere.

The on-site customization element at Dover Street Market London extends the construction narrative beyond the factory floor. On May 15, purchasers will be able to personalize their pair using a selection of vintage patches and brass letter beads, making each pair a true 1-of-1. The mechanic is consistent with *Better With Age’s broader practice of treating garments as open-ended objects — the shoe arrives with a construction foundation, and the wearer completes it.

Alongside the footwear, *Better With Age will be curating a dedicated space at Dover Street Market London, presenting its Spring + Summer 2026 collection, a retrospective T-shirt archive book, and an exclusive T-shirt.
