With the continued popularity of Crocs plus models like YEEZY‘s Foam Runner and Merrell‘s Hydro Moc, clogs are enjoying a moment in the spotlight. They’re inherently easy, unfailingly unpretentious and copiously comfortable — and a new brand named Kane is now joining the clog celebration with a model made of a biopolymer derived from natural Brazilian sugarcane. Apart from its environmentally conscious construction, Kane’s clog also aims to provide “active recovery,” stimulating the leg muscles while thwarting fatigue.
Though this may sound like a tall task for a simple foam sneaker, Kane’s clog was crafted in part by Dr. Daniel Geller, a certified foot and ankle surgeon who’s also worked with Nike, Under Armour and Crocs. The upper is made of perforated foam for breathability and features a heel toggle for an adjustable fit. The midsole serves up thick, pillowy cushioning with 31mm of foam under the heel and 22mm of foam under the forefoot plus a dual-density build for extra support. The aforementioned biopolymer sugarcane build — the same material found on Allbirds — is also 100% recyclable.
