Nike has altered the lacing system on Odell Beckham Jr‘s Air Max 720 OBJ to create the new Air Max 720 OBJ Slip. Swapping out standard laces for a technical strap-and-snap system, the shoe is set to debut in two colorways that seem to draw from Beckham Jr’s Cleveland Browns: “Team Orange/Black” and “Black/Total Orange.”
“Team Orange” dresses its suede, nylon and mesh upper in orange tones ranging from autumnal to vivid while using black for accents on the tongue/throat, strap closures and bulbous Air Max 720 midsole. Meanwhile, “Black” offers a mostly inversed look, presenting a full jet black construction with nothing more than a single strip of blaze orange running down the throat. Each also equips OBJ-specific branding on the insole and tongue.
Of special interest is the aforementioned lacing system. Two crisscrossing fabric straps intersect on a plastic harness placed above the throat — itself held in place by a vertically aligned fabric anchor. Each of these can be tightened or loosened by a simple push or pull, and both are secured on either the lateral or medial side of the foot with a snap-in plastic closure system.
Both makeups of the Nike Air Max 720 OBJ Slip will release at retailers like Sneakersnstuff on February 21, priced at $180 USD.
