New Balance and JJJJound have shared an official look at the collaborative New Balance 990v3 “Suede.” The collaborative release completely re-engineers the retro runner by discarding its conventional mesh base for a full monochromatic suede finish.
Departing from JJJJound’s previous 990v3 projects in 2018 and 2022—both of which preserved the model’s classic mesh and suede paneling—this version eliminates the mesh entirely. Tan suede wraps across the entirety of the upper, delivering a refined and uniform texture that reimagines the sneaker’s surface without altering its recognizable shape.
Sharp black accents provide contrast against the tan base, appearing on the midfoot “N” branding, shoe trim, and rugged rubber outsole. Additional black detailing defines the “New Balance” embroidery positioned on the tongue. The textile pivot follows JJJJound’s recent exploration of alternative constructions, such as the no-sew upper featured on their joint 740 model, with JJJJound joining Kith as one of only two collaborative partners tapped to deliver a 990v3 in 2026.
