Saucony and Westside Gunn have officially announced the Saucony Grid Jazz 9 “Awesome God”, marking the next chapter in their creative partnership. Inspired by the Grammy-nominated artist’s Flygod Is An Awesome God music series, the luxurious silhouette serves as a physical extension of the trilogy’s upcoming final project.
The collaborative design pairs a premium multi-tone faux fur upper with iridescent leather paneling, ensuring that no two pairs are identical. A custom embroidered scorpion is positioned within the heel window, integrating one of Westside Gunn’s signature motifs tied to his personal identity and Griselda Records. Butter-soft leather extends across the collar, sockliner, and laces to complete the elevated construction.
The global launch date holds local significance for the artist, taking place on August 28—officially recognized in Buffalo, New York, as Westside Gunn Day following a mayor’s proclamation in 2019. Furthering the connection between the brand and the music, portions of Westside Gunn’s forthcoming Awesome God – Part 3 album were recorded directly inside Saucony’s Boston Innovation Hub.
